Maria E. Beck, RID, began her love affair with design at a very early age.  From the time that she was a young child she could be found decorating her elaborate dollhouse, drawing home elevations and floorplans, and interacting with any and everything that was artistic and creative.  She discovered her love for beautiful things and beautiful spaces early in high school, through beginning design courses, that introduced her to interior design and art history.  It was then that Maria knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life and made a clear plan of how to achieve it.

Maria graduated from Texas Tech University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with an emphasis in Architecture.  Maria began her formal training at the prestigious Dallas design firm, Vision Design, under the renowned principal designer Dan Nelson.  While at Vision Design, Maria gained a wealth of knowledge and experience collaborating with exceptional designers.  Among this experience were five star boutique hotel projects, such as the Dallas boutique hotel gem, The Crescent Court Hotel.  It also included unique commercial spaces and extraordinary high-end residential design projects all over the world.  From there, Maria went on to work at the beloved Dallas area firm, IBB Design Group, under the talented principal designer Beth Rafferty.  It was at this unique firm that Maria found her passion for working directly with residential homeowners and her penchant for creating beautiful spaces.  Maria finds the personal relationships and bonds that are formed during the design process the most rewarding part of her job.

“You’re in your client’s most personal spaces, learning about what they love and the way they live.  When they let you into their intimate lives like that, and you help them to execute the designs of their dreams, and you help them to love their home and to live more beautifully, well, that is the real reward.” Maria Beck

In 2007 Maria founded her own interior design company, M. E. Beck Design, Inc. after passing the NCIDQ exam and becoming a Registered Interior Designer under the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.   Maria's work can be characterized by her fresh take on traditional and timeless design, a classic aesthetic, and her attention to detail.  Maria believes Coco Chanel said it best when she said “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”  Maria’s design approach is to work very closely with all involved parties to ensure that the design is envisioned, clearly communicated and executed seamlessly.

Maria resides happily in San Antonio, Texas with her husband Frank, their two young children Alice and James and their beloved border collie, Blackjack.

Maria’s work has been published in multiple national design publications including Better Homes & Gardens Before & After, Better Homes & Gardens Color Made Easy and Better Homes & Gardens Storage magazines.
